About Rob

Rob, internet marketerI have been online since the early 90’s. I remember the time before there was the www. The crazy times when it would take me all night just to download one photo or a 30 second music clip.

I started using computers back in the early 80’s when my family got a texas intruments computer. I only used it for games back then. I studied computing in year 11 and 12 and then did some uni courses later in life. When my daughter came along nearly six years ago I stopped uni.

The first time I used a computer for work was in 1989 when I used a 286 computer with a 20mb removable hard drive. I also got into desktop publishing about that time using a mac classic. At the time I was working at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In 1991 I moved to the Desktop Publishing Section of the department.

On the same day I started in DTP the section got a brand new Canon colour copier and printer. I got to use a Macintosh II for my work. In 1992 I was able to buy a Quadra 950 teamed up with a 20 inch monitor. I remember the all up cost for this equipment was over $20 000 Australian. These were fun times. I basically got to play at work working with Photoshop, Illustrator and Pagemaker.

Times have changed and you can use the net for so many things, both good and bad. In more recent times I have worked as a webmaster for a government department in Australia and also in the payroll section of the same department. I had about six years working on the intranet site that I managed before being plucked out of that job to take over in the payroll area.

Two years later I had decided that was enough in the public service and I resigned with the dream of being an internet marketer. The only catch was I had to return on contract to actually process my final payment. I was suckered back into the old job to train my replacement…then I became a contractor on the PeopleSoft help desk at DFAT, there was no escaping.

This all sucked life out of my dream of financial independence as an internet marketer. I joined programs such as Stompernet and tried to fit that in with my fulltime job. I felt overwhelmed and in need of something else not so full on. This was the start of my slide into foolishness where I went after product after product. I lost track of just what I was a member of at times. It was crazy.

I always had good intentions of following what was in the latest product I purchased however I was always just wasting my time and money. You just have to go with one or two things at a time and give things time to work out. What I did was just beyond belief not that I look back at it.

I now have cut right back and am concentrating on a few projects. I look forward to bringing you some products that I hope you will find useful and will want to come back for more. I am currently getting stuck into life as a gorilla, um I mean Guerilla. Guerilla Marketing that is. I am studying the Guerilla Balance Sheet and working towards being a Certified Guerrilla Information Marketing Trainer. Learning from Paulie Sabol and Dr. Ben Mack has been enlightening.

I live in Canberra, Australia. In case you don’t know that is the capital of Australia. I have a lovely wife, Tina, and a gorgeous seven year old named Alicia. She is in such a hurry to grow up and just always wants to be learning or helping out around the house.

When I have some spare time I like to watch a bit of sport or play a bit of tennis. In the old days I played professional beach volleyball here in Australia. I also do some writing for two websites I created. One is a general sports site and the other is dedicated to tennis news.

My current focus is on PPC marketing. I have been developing that part of my business for the past six months and have been enjoying learning this aspect of business.
