No phone, No Internet

I have recently moved to a really nice new home my wife and I had built. I learned many lessons during that experience. One of them is don’t take someone else’s word as gospel.

I wanted to keep my same telephone number when moving house. My builder had said all was good to go with the telephone connection in the new house. The phone company just had to turn up and connect it. I thought great I will arrange for that the same day we move.

That day came and I got a call on my mobile from the phone company saying the trench is no good and they can’t connect the phone. They then said the bad news is that it will be a minimum of 3 weeks until I can be connected. Aaargh! No phone was no problem as I have a mobile. But no phone means no internet. For internet marketing that is a bit of a disaster. I now know to plan better in the future and to have some backup plans in place if I was really reliant on my internet business.

The laptop in Starbucks seems like a good backup plan for the future. For now I am getting by as I still have an old job that pays the bills.  The moral of this story is have a backup plan for when things don’t go as you expected.
