Thoughts for the day about Internet Marketing
I first got into internet marketing some seven years ago. I had setup a successful advertising site that made me some extra pocket money. Back then it took a fair bit of work to maintain the site. As my wife gave me a hard time about this site I threw in the towel and walked away from the marketing game for a few years.
Around 2003 I got myself onto some internet marketing newsletter lists. I would read one from time to time however as I had a one year old daughter I mostly had the newsletters end up in my email trash can. One person I got the newsletter from was the late Corey Rudl. I think to myself what would have been if I read these newsletters and applied some of the information. What might have been….
What might have been is something that needs to be eliminated from your thinking when trying to make something of yourself in today’s world. People need to focus on right now. Look at what you can achieve by setting some realistic goals and then working with focus towards achieving your goals.
When setting goals try to make them specific and try not to make them too unrealistic. It is no good to say I want to earn a million dollars in a year. You need to first set a goal of replacing your currently weekly income from your day job. Give yourself a timeframe and also think about going for a bigger goal when you are close to achieving your first.
With internet marketing try to keep your head down and not get caught up in all the new better faster widgets that are launched every week. If you decide you need more traffic for a website find a good program and follow through with what it teaches and give the methods or tactics time to work, or possibly fail, before moving on to something else.
Something else to keep in mind when marketing on the internet is the need to test and track results. If you are using adwords try split testing your ads. Give the ads a week and then see which one works best. After that week test your winner against another ad. Rinse and repeat as Andy Jenkins would quite often say. Always work towards improving what you are doing.
On that note I will end this post. Just never give in and you will achieve your goals..
